Here’s my artistic collaborator, preparing the hillside for the installation. Steve Streets, all-around handyman/contractor who knows how to make just about anything work and build just about anything, too. Once the holes were dug, it was my job to fill while he tamped down the dirt.
The posts were free, courtesy of Jack Carpenter, who mills pine he harvests from his 260-acre spread. Though steel posts would be my choice for an urban installation, this nature center calls for something down-to-earth. I’m intrigued by prospect of contrasting so fine cloth and rough. Ordered 10 yards of silk today.
